I've canceled my bus reservation, but it was still charged to my credit card.
I've canceled my bus reservation, but I haven't received a refund, and it appears I was charged twice.
Debit card payments are processed by verifying the card's validity at the time of payment, and the order amount is immediately debited from your account. Therefore, with debit card payments, when you cancel a reservation, a refund process and the deduction of cancellation fees may involve another validation of the card, resulting in an additional charge for the updated total amount.
The initial charge will be refunded, but the timing of the refund varies depending on factors such as the card company's billing cycle.
Due to the nature of debit cards, it may temporarily appear as if you've been charged twice, but the refund will be processed.
Please note that Alpico is not the operating company of the reservation system.
For more specific information, please contact either the company managing the website where you made the reservation or your card company.

I am unable to make a bus reservation online. Is the bus fully booked, or is there an issue with the website?
There are several reasons why you might be unable to make a reservation:
1. The date you are trying to book for may be before the reservation period opens or the service may have already ended. You can check the operating period and days on the respective schedule page. Depending on the route, you can typically book tickets one to three months in advance. You can find the pre-booking period for each schedule on the respective schedule page. It may appear a message such as "There are no buses available for the selected date. Please select a different bus/plan" or "Search result 0 bus(es) found.". You may also find that you cannot select the desired date on the calendar to make a booking.

Please refrain from inquiring if such an indicator appears. If the bus is fully booked online, it will also be full at the ticket counter.

3. To ensure that individuals of different genders do not sit next to each other, we have certain seating restrictions. This means that even if there are available seats, you may not be able to book due to the seating configuration enforced by the reservation system. Please note that this restriction does not apply to reservations made for the same group. The gender specified on the ticket will be strictly enforced, and passengers with a different gender on their tickets will be declined boarding. We want to travel in a large group by bus. Can we purchase tickets or make reservations in advance? We are concerned that, being a large group, we might not all be able to travel together.
Regardless of whether the route operates on a reservation or non-reservation basis, we do not handle direct reservations.
Please purchase your tickets and then line up at the boarding area. Boarding will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so having purchased a ticket does not guarantee that your entire group will be able to travel together on your desired service. If you are concerned about seats filling up, we recommend arriving at the queue early.
This also applies to travel agencies, please purchase tickets like regular customers and join the boarding queue.

Is the bus from ... to ... crowded on ...? Is it possible that I might not be able to board the bus? Is there a chance I might not be able to board?
It depends on the dates and times.
<< Crowding Levels >>
April: Sparse
During Golden Week: Very Crowded (*GW holidays vary each year, so we recommend checking the exact dates using resources like Google or ChatGPT.)
Mid-May to June: Not Crowded
July to August: Very Crowded
During Obon Holidays: Very Crowded (*Obon holidays vary each year, so we recommend checking the exact dates using resources like Google or ChatGPT.)
September: Crowded
During Silver Week: Very Crowded (*SW holidays vary each year, so we recommend checking the exact dates using resources like Google or ChatGPT.)
October: Crowded
Early November: Not Crowded
During peak holiday periods such as Golden Week, Obon, and long weekends, buses tend to be very crowded. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are also more likely to be very crowded.
During busy times, we usually add more buses departing from Shin-Shimashima station to accommodate all passengers, so this bus rarely gets full. Still, we cannot guarantee every seat. If you are concerned about seats filling up, we recommend arriving at the queue early.
As for the direct bus (National Park Liner), it's advisable to make a reservation in advance. Most of the time, tickets are sold out before the departure date, and we don't normally add more direct buses.

Whether restrooms are available on the bus is clearly mentioned in the "Important Information" section of each timetable page. Please check carefully.
In general:
Short-distance buses (less than 3 hours): Usually, no restrooms are available on board.
Long-distance highway buses: Typically, they have restroom facilities. However, some additional or substitute buses may not have restrooms due to vehicle availability, maintenance, or inspections. For long-distance buses, even if there is no restroom on board, a restroom break is usually scheduled at a rest area. These breaks typically last 10–15 minutes. About the bus to Kamikochi
The nearest bus stop to Kamikochi in winter is the K-26 Nakanoyu bus stop. To reach Nakanoyu bus stop, you can board the Matsumoto - Takayama bus. An advance reservation is required. Please check the fares from the timetable page.
From Nakanoyu bus stop, you will need to walk or use snowshoes, approximately 1 hour (3 km) to Taisho Pond and about 2 hours (7 km) to Kappa Bridge. The time required may be significantly longer depending on the snow conditions and weather.
For those who plan to enter Kamikochi during this period
Please be aware that winter mountain climbing/snowshoeing is undertaken at your own risk. Kamikochi experiences rapidly changing winter weather conditions, with potential dangers such as avalanches, falling rocks, and ground blizzards.
When entering, you must complete a climbing registration at the entrance (Nakanoyu Gate) and submit it in the designated box. We highly recommend you join a tour with a professional guide when going to Kamikochi in winter. One of our recommended guides is Raicho Guesthouse.
